4 Kentucky Wildcats Receive SEC Honors

The Kentucky Wildcats have been on a roll lately, winning against Arkansas on the road and entering Nashville with a double bye for the SEC Tournament. This is the second week in a row that they have been ranked in the AP Top 25, and four of their players have received honors in the SEC’s annual awards.

Oscar Tshiebwe was named to the SEC First Team. Although he struggled earlier in the season, he made some adjustments and has been performing like one of the best players in the country. Tshiebwe is currently averaging 16.4 points and 13.1 rebounds per game on the season, and 16.6-13.3 in conference play.

Antonio Reeves was named Co-6th Man of the Year along with Alabama’s Jahvon Quinerly. Reeves scored 37 points against Arkansas, breaking a Kentucky record for most points in a road game under John Calipari. He has been averaging 14.2 points per game on 41% three-point shooting in the regular season and 15.7 points per game and 41% three-point shooting in conference play.

Cason Wallace and Chris Livingston both made the SEC All Freshman Team, becoming the first Kentucky players to do so since Tyler Herro and Keldon Johnson in 2019. Both players have faced adversity this season, with Wallace dealing with injuries and Livingston struggling to find consistent playing time. However, they have been instrumental in Kentucky’s resurgence. Wallace is currently averaging 11.7 points, 4.2 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game on 45-36-76 shooting splits, while Livingston is averaging 6.3 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.
