Anna DeBeer receives CSC Academic All-America recognition

Louisville, KY – Anna DeBeer, the outstanding outside hitter for the University of Louisville, has been recognized for her exceptional academic achievements by being named to the 2023 Academic All-America® women’s volleyball team. The team, selected by the College Sports Communicators, consisted of players from Division I schools who maintained an impressive 3.88 cumulative GPA.

DeBeer, who was already named a Second Team All-American, had an outstanding season on the court as well. She was named the East Region Player of the Year, and was honored with a spot on the first team All-East Region and the NCAA All-Regional team. DeBeer was an instrumental part of the Louisville team, leading in various statistical categories including kills (392), points (438.5), and double doubles (12). Her performances did not go unnoticed, as she was twice named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week.

Some of DeBeer’s standout matches included a memorable double-double performance against Creighton in the Sweet 16, where she recorded 19 kills, 13 digs, and 2 blocks. She had career-high numbers in kills (29) and points (30) in a match against No. 7 Pittsburgh, and also showcased her skills with five aces against Wake Forest. This year, DeBeer joined the prestigious 1,000 Career Kill Club, further solidifying her status as one of the top players in the country.

DeBeer’s success this season adds to her impressive list of accomplishments throughout her collegiate career. In 2022, she was named to the Final Four All-Tournament Team and was honored as the All-Louisville Regional MVP. In 2021, DeBeer was recognized as a member of the All-Louisville Regional Team and the All-ACC First Team. She began her college career on a high note in 2020, being named the ACC Freshman of the Year and earning a spot on the All-ACC First Team.

DeBeer’s recognition as an Academic All-American reflects not only her athletic abilities, but her dedication to her studies as well. Her hard work and commitment to excellence, both on and off the court, have made her a deserving recipient of this prestigious honor.
