Chapman’s journey into the NBA began when he was selected as the first draft pick by the Charlotte Hornets, an expansion team, in the 1988 NBA draft. He made an immediate impact, averaging 16.9 points per game in his rookie season. Chapman also gained recognition for his participation in the Slam Dunk Contests of 1990 and 1991.
