Ben Damge Earns Spot on CSC Academic All-District Men’s Soccer Team

by

Kentucky men’s soccer star Ben Damge has once again proven himself both on and off the field as he was named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Men’s Soccer Team. This marks the second consecutive year that Damge has received this prestigious honor.

Known by his teammates as “The Hammer,” Damge has been an exceptional student-athlete throughout his four years at Kentucky. Hailing from Mason, Ohio, he boasts an impressive 3.93 grade-point average as a Finance and Accounting major.

On the field, Damge has been a standout performer for the Wildcats. In his 59 career matches, he has notched 12 goals and five assists. One of his most memorable performances came last season against Georgia Southern when he recorded the first hat trick for UK in nine years. He continued to make an impact this season, scoring a brace against Xavier in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to propel the Wildcats to the second round.

Damge’s accomplishments extend beyond the soccer pitch. He has been recognized on multiple academic honor rolls, including the 2021 SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll and the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll and Academic Medal recipient in 2020. In addition to his academic accolades, he has also received Sun Belt Conference All-Tournament honors for the past two seasons.

Off the field, Damge has been actively involved in the Lexington community. He has volunteered his time at Julius Marks Elementary School’s monthly Celebration Day, packed food boxes with God’s Pantry, and participated in tabling events with Donate Life and UK softball’s Big Blue Boo. He has also inspired young students as a guest speaker at a local Career Day.

As an Academic All-District honoree, Damge now advances to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. The first-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on December 19 for men and December 20 for women.
