Kentucky’s Oscar Tshiebwe has been named the Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week after averaging a blistering 23.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game in wins at Florida and against Auburn. He shot a scorching 87% (20-23) from the field in those two victories and was also named Southeastern Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season. Way to go Big O!
This is Tshiebwe’s second time receiving the award, with the first being in December of last season. He is the eighth UK player to receive the honor since its inception in 2009-10. Tshiebwe’s impressive performances included a 25-point game against Florida, where he also generated his third game this season with at least 25 points, and his 16th double-double of the season with 22 and 17 against the Auburn Tigers.
The Kentucky Wildcats and fan favorite Oscar Tshiebwe return to action on Wednesday when they host Vanderbilt at 7pm EST at Rupp Arena.
