Blagg and Cardinals Set to Begin Spring Season Next Weekend

by

The University of Louisville men’s golf team is gearing up to start their spring season and they have high expectations. Head coach Ryan Blagg emphasized the importance of hard work in practice, and believes that the team is ready for a successful spring. The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) is known for its competitiveness, and next season it will become even stronger with the addition of Stanford, Cal, and SMU. Despite being a young team, with three players who had never started a collegiate tournament before the fall season, the Cardinals showed promise by finishing second in two tournaments and fourth in another. They hope to improve in the upcoming season as the younger players gain more experience.

The team boasts two talented players in Sebastian Moss and Max Kennedy. Moss had an outstanding fall season, becoming the first player in school history to win back-to-back tournaments. He currently holds the No. 12 spot in the NCAA rankings. Kennedy, on the other hand, is an experienced player who has been an asset to the team throughout his collegiate career. Blagg mentioned that Moss has been working hard and Kennedy is determined to make his senior year a successful one. Other players like Cooper Claycomb, Clay Pendergrass, and Easton Johnson have also made great progress.

Moss, who had a stroke average of 70.06 during the fall season, is eager to take his game to the next level. He has been studying his performances and focusing on replicating the aspects that led to his success. The team had a busy fall season with back-to-back tournaments, but Moss believes that their hard work will pay off and they will have a strong spring season.

Blagg has built a consistent program over the years and has set high standards for the team. He mentioned that the goal is to make it to the national championship, although they haven’t been back since his first year as head coach when they finished ninth. Blagg believes that by working together as a team and staying focused on their goals, they can achieve success in the conference championship and make it to the NCAA championships.

The Cardinals will kick off their spring season at the Sea Best Invitational on January 29-30. This tournament will be the starting point for their journey towards achieving their goals and proving themselves as one of the top programs in the ACC and nationally.
