On Saturday, the talented dancers from Kentucky will take the stage again, this time in the hip hop portion of the competition at around 2:09 p.m. ET. The finals for the hip hop division will be held on Sunday evening, and the final awards will follow the conclusion of the competition.

The action kicks off on Friday afternoon with the men’s and women’s high jump at 12:00 p.m. Track events will begin with the first round of the women’s 60m at 3:00 p.m. Saturday morning will see the women’s triple jump, men’s pole vault, and women’s shot put starting at 11:00 a.m., followed by events on the track at 12:00 p.m. Live results for the meet can be found here, and a schedule of events can be found here.

Miami entered the game with an impressive home record, winning nine out of nine games at the Watsco Center this season. However, Louisville’s stout defense limited Miami’s high-powered offense to just 38.8% shooting, including a meager 27.8% in the second half. The Cardinals capitalized on the Hurricanes’ 13 turnovers, scoring 24 points off of them.

Among the teams joining Kentucky are Alabama State, Butler, Central Florida, Cincinnati, Howard, Louisville, Miami (Fla.), Miami (Ohio), Ohio State, Texas, and Tulane. It promises to be a fierce and exciting competition with top talent from each participating school.

Antonio Reeves has been a standout player for the Wildcats, garnering recognition as the 2023 Southeastern Conference Co-Sixth Man of the Year. He currently leads the team in scoring, averaging an impressive 18.6 points per game in the 2023-24 season. Reeves has consistently achieved double-digit scoring in 13 out of the team’s 14 games, and he has even surpassed the 20-point mark in six games. Notably, he put up a remarkable 30 points against Louisville on December 21, a feat that hasn’t been accomplished by a Kentucky player since Tony Delk achieved the same in 1995.

The Cardinals will face off against the Panthers on Thursday, January 11 at 6 p.m. ET. The game will be aired nationally on the ACC Network. Louisville has a strong history against Pitt, leading the series 25-2. Since joining the ACC, the Cardinals have remained undefeated against the Panthers in conference matchups.

Brenden Bates, a native of Cincinnati, had an impressive career as a tight end for the Wildcats. He played in 58 games, making 25 starts, and recorded 26 receptions for 272 yards and two touchdowns. Off the field, Bates excelled academically, graduating with a degree in consumer economics and family financial counseling in August 2022. He then went on to earn a second degree in communication in December 2023.

Kentucky moved to 2-0 in the SEC with a 90-77 home win over a cagey Missouri Tiger team.  Kentucky was never really in danger of losing but as predicted in the preview the game was closer than it should have been. 

Kentucky, currently 7-7 on the season, has won five of its last seven games and enters conference play on a three-game winning streak. The Wildcats are coming off a 72-59 victory over Samford, with senior forward Ajae Petty leading the way with 22 points and 13 rebounds.

Kentucky’s overall performance was impressive, with Tre Mitchell contributing a double-double of 20 points and 14 rebounds. D.J. Wagner added 16 points, Antonio Reeves scored 14, and Aaron Bradshaw had 10 points for the team.
