In their last game before the holiday break, Kentucky dominated Louisville with a 95-76 win at the KFC Yum! Center. Super senior Antonio Reeves led the charge with an impressive 30-point performance. Freshman Reed Sheppard also had a standout game, contributing 11 points and 11 assists. Sheppard’s outstanding performance earned him the title of Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week for the second consecutive time.

This was Louisville’s first appearance in the Holiday Bowl and their first matchup against Southern California. Unfortunately, they were unable to secure the victory. The team’s neutral site game record now stands at 17-17-1.

In the third quarter, things looked promising for Louisville as they forced a USC punt and Quincy Riley made a huge play with a 61-yard interception return, the longest in Holiday Bowl history. Guerendo capitalized on the opportunity and scored his second touchdown of the game with a one-yard run, cutting the deficit to seven points.

This game marks the first-ever meeting between USC and Louisville on the football field. This marks the second-highest GPA for a semester in the history of UK Athletics, just shy of the record set in the spring of 2020. The GPA of 3.534 achieved in the spring of 2020, which was aided by the pass/fail policy in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, exceeded the previous record set in spring 2014.
