“We are super excited about adding Diego to our staff here in Louisville,” said da Silva. “Not only has he been an excellent player on the court, but he’s done really well in his transition into coaching. He’s an exciting young coach who is going to bring a lot of energy and passion to the team.”

The first camp, Winter Prospect Warm up, is scheduled for Saturday, January 6, 2024. The session will begin at 4:00 PM ET and conclude at 6:30 PM ET. Participants are expected to arrive for check-in at 3:40 PM ET. This camp is open to students in the graduating classes of 2025, 2026, and 2027. During this session, attendees will have the chance to learn defense and offense fundamentals from the skilled Louisville Softball players and coaching staff. The format of the session will mimic that of a competitive college team practice.

The PVF season is set to commence on Friday, January 26, 2024, with the regular season extending until May 11. The playoffs will then begin in mid-May, adding an extra layer of intensity to the competition.

Mills, who was a part of the 1996 National Championship team at Kentucky, shared his insights on the team’s progress. Throughout the season, Rutherford displayed her exceptional skills on the court, averaging 3.47 kills per set in her 78 appearances. She also contributed 1.53 digs per set and 0.90 blocks per set. Her stellar performance earned her a spot on the All-SEC team for the third time in her career. Additionally, she was recently named to the All-Region team and received the honor of being recognized as an American Volleyball Coaches’ Association All-American for the first time in her career in 2022.

The season will start off with a bang as the Wildcats play three consecutive matches at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Center. They will be hosting ETSU and Miami (Ohio) for a doubleheader on January 14, followed by a match against Penn State on January 20.

In fact, over the past six seasons, the Cardinals have only lost two games in December and have won their last eight games in the month dating back to last season. Against nonconference opponents, Louisville has an impressive record of 183-34 in regular season play under Walz. Their dominance extends further, as they have an 85-11 record in non-conference play over the past eight years.
