Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball has reason to celebrate as two of their signees, Boogie Fland and Jayden Quaintance, have been selected to play in the prestigious McDonald’s All-America Game. The game, which features the top high school basketball graduates in the country, will be held at the Toyota Center in Houston on April 2.
Fland, a talented 6-foot-2 guard from the Bronx, New York, and Quaintance, a skilled 6-9 forward from Cleveland, Ohio, have both been chosen to represent the East squad in this showcase event. Kentucky joins Alabama, Duke, North Carolina, and Rutgers as one of the five schools with multiple McDonald’s All-Americans this season.
The Wildcats have a rich history of attracting top talent, with 46 McDonald’s All-Americans signed during the John Calipari era, more than any other school. Notably, multiple players from each of Calipari’s signing classes have been recognized as McDonald’s All-Americans, with six in 2013 and five in 2017. Since the inception of the game in 1977, Kentucky has signed a total of 78 McDonald’s All-Americans.
In addition to Fland and Quaintance, Kentucky has also secured commitments from Somto Cyril and Travis Perry for next year. All four prospects are highly regarded, ranking in the top 100 recruits of their class according to Rivals, 247Sports, and ESPN.
The Wildcats have been consistently successful in recruiting, boasting top-three recruiting classes in all but one season of the Calipari era. This impressive record is based on the Recruiting Services Consensus Index, which compiles the major recruiting rankings to determine a consensus ranking.
As the University of Kentucky cannot comment on unsigned prospects, fans will eagerly await further updates on the basketball team.
