Cardinals Achieve Five Podium Finishes in Day One of PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational

Louisville, Kentucky – The University of Louisville’s track and field teams had a successful first day at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational on Friday, with five podium finishes.

The day started off strong with Noah Koch securing his first event victory as a Cardinal in the men’s weight throw. Koch recorded a throw of 20.32m (66-8), which is the fifth-best toss in school history. Koch’s performance shows promise for his future with the Louisville team.

Ryan Farrell also had an impressive day, winning the men’s 800m with a time of 1:50.80. Farrell’s time places him in the top-30 nationally, demonstrating his skill and determination as an athlete.

The Cardinals continued to dominate in the field events, with Jeremiah Willis placing second overall in the men’s elite long jump. Willis leaped 7.73m (25-4.5), while Jake Burkey took third place with a jump of 7.59m (24-11).

Freshman Lucy Fellows made her mark in the women’s pentathlon, finishing as the runner-up with a total of 3,639 points. Fellows showcased her talent with personal-best performances in the 60m hurdles and shot put, as well as leading the field in the shot put and long jump.

In the men’s heptathlon, Paul Kallenberg sits in third place after the first four events with a total of 3,184 points. Kallenberg’s strong performance puts him just 213 points behind the top mark heading into Saturday.

Louisville closed out the day with impressive finishes in the field events. Lydia Stuart cleared 4.03m (13-2.5) in the women’s seeded pole vault, earning her a fourth-place finish. Zoe Yeast had a heave of 17.48m (57-4.25) in the women’s weight throw, securing her fifth place.

On the track, freshman Maddie Seaby made her debut with a fifth-place finish in the women’s 3000m, clocking a time of 9:43.34.

The PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational continues tomorrow with events starting at 10:00 a.m. The Louisville track and field teams are showcasing their talent and determination, leaving a strong impression in this competition.
