Cardinals Baseball Splits With Notre Dame

Louisville Cardinals baseball team won a game and lost another to Notre Dame on Sunday. The first game ended in a 5-4 loss for the Cardinals, despite Christian Knapczyk hitting a home run and Eddie King Jr. scoring a run with a single. Notre Dame scored five runs in the fifth inning, giving them the victory. The Cardinals left nine runners on the bases and stranded three more in the next inning.

However, in the second game, Louisville started strong once again. Ryan McCoy’s groundout scored a run and helped the Cardinals take the lead in the third inning. Notre Dame tied it in the fourth, but Louisville held them off with a fantastic defensive play, denying them a potential go-ahead run. Then, Louisville scored the game-winning run in the sixth inning with Will Vierling’s hit.

Carson Liggett had a great game and only allowed one run in five innings. He now has five wins and no losses this season. Tate Kuehner took over in the last four innings, allowing just one baserunner and earning his third save. Christian Knapczyk stood out on the field, with five hits during the two games.

Louisville will face Cincinnati in a non-conference game on Tuesday at 6 p.m. ET.
