The University of Louisville men’s and women’s swimming teams both secured third place finishes at the Ohio State Fall Invitational. The Ohio State women took first with a score of 2666, followed by Indiana with 2553. The Cardinals finished in third with 2022 points, Notre Dame in fourth with 1459, Cincinnati in fifth with 1317, Pitt in sixth with 253, Ohio U in seventh with 199, and California in eighth with 171. On the men’s side, Indiana came out on top with a score of 2830, Ohio State took second with 2459, Louisville finished third with 1985.5, Notre Dame took fourth with 1797.5, Cincinnati finished fifth with 1247, Pitt came in sixth with 341, and Cal finished in seventh with 214.
In the 1650 freestyle, IU’s Chin Gan finished first with a time of 15:48.70. Louisville’s Paige Kuwata finished eighth with a time of 16:38.12. In the men’s 1650 freestyle, Ohio State’s Sam Campbell took first place with a time of 14:48.25. Louisville’s Tyler Watson finished third with a time of 15:00.39.
Ohio State’s Krista Martin won the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:52.49. Louisville’s Ally Boynton finished eighth with a time of 1:57.04. In the men’s 200 backstroke, Notre Dame’s Tommy Janton took first place with a time of 1:40.34. Louisville’s Jackson Millard finished fourth with a time of 1:42.83.
Gabi Albiero of Louisville won the 100 free with a time of 47.67, narrowly beating Ohio State’s Amy Fulmer by .01 seconds. In the men’s 100 free, Notre Dame’s Chris Guiliano took first place with a time of 41.30. Louisville’s Murilo Sartori finished sixth with a time of 43.33.
In the 200 breaststroke, Brearna Crawford posted the winning time of 2:07.62. Louisville’s Emily Herkle finished third with a time of 2:10.95.
Abby Hay of Louisville won the 200 fly with a time of 1:54.83. In the men’s 200 fly, IU’s Tomer Frankel took first place with a time of 1:41.94. Louisville’s Gustavo Saldo finished third with a time of 1:43.77.
The Louisville women’s A-relay team won the 400 Free Relay with a time of 3:10.97. The team consisted of Gabi Albiero, Christiana Regenauer, Lucy Mehraban, and Julia Dennis. In the men’s 400 Free Relay, Louisville’s A-relay team finished fifth with a time of 2:53.77. The team included Murilo Sartori, Dalton Lowe, Matias Santiso, and Denis Loktev.
