Cardinals Read: No. 12/3 Swimming and Diving Team Secures Split against No. 17/NR Notre Dame

In a thrilling Atlantic Coast Conference faceoff, the No.12/3 University of Louisville men’s and women’s swimming teams took on No.17/NR Notre Dame in a split decision. The No.3-ranked Louisville women dominated with a score of 218-82, while the No.17 Notre Dame men narrowly defeated the No.12 Cards 162-138.

The Louisville women’s team produced multiple event winners, including Gabi Albiero, Lucy Mehraban, Kim Herkle, and Christiana Regenauer. Albiero won the 200 fly, 100 fly, and was part of the 200 Medley Relay. Mehraban emerged victorious in the 200 free, 100 free, and 400 Free Relay. Herkle showcased her talent in the 100 breast, 200 breast, and 200 Individual Medley. Regenauer contributed to the 200 Medley Relay, won the 50 free, and was part of the 400 Free Relay. Lindsay Gizzi also made an impact, sweeping both diving boards.

The men’s team was led by Denis Petrashov, who triumphed in the 100 breast, 200 breast, and 200 Medley Relay. Ilia Sibirtsev dominated the distance events, while Dalton Lowe claimed victory in the 100 fly and both relays.

Kim Herkle led the Cardinals to a 1-2-3 sweep in the women’s 100 breaststroke, while Denis Petrashov won the men’s event.

Gabi Albiero dominated the 200 butterfly, winning with a time of 2:00.01. Gustavo Saldo secured victory for Louisville in the men’s race. Christiana Regenauer took home the win in the 50 freestyle for the women, while Charlie Crush of Louisville finished second. Both diving events were won by Notre Dame’s Ben Nguyen and Carlos Lopez Hernandez, respectively.

Lindsay Gizzi claimed victory in both women’s diving events for Louisville. Paige Hetrick won the 200 backstroke for the Cardinals, while Jackson Millard secured fourth place for the men. Lucy Mehraban emerged as the champion in the women’s 100 freestyle, leading a Louisville sweep. Chris Guiliano of Notre Dame won the men’s race.

Kim Herkle secured another win for Louisville in the 200 breaststroke, while Denis Petrashov claimed victory for the men. Summer Cardwell and Ilia Sibirtsev triumphed in the 500 freestyle for Louisville. Gabi Albiero notched her third win of the night in the 100 butterfly, while Dalton Lowe secured victory for the men. Kim Herkle recorded her third win in the 200 IM for the Cardinals, with Tanner Filion winning the men’s event.

The Louisville women dominated the 400 free relay, taking the top two spots, while the men’s team also emerged victorious.
