Louisville started their home schedule with a victory over DePaul this past Sunday, winning 81-74. This win improved the Cardinals’ home opener record to 12-2 at the KFC Yum! Center and 15-2 in coach Walz’s tenure.

Avant-Roberts, a 5-foot-10 guard from La Jolla, Calif., is a five-star prospect ranked 25th overall and the eighth-ranked guard by espnW HoopGurlz. She chose Louisville over several other top programs. Avant-Roberts has shown great skill and potential, leading her team to a Nike World Basketball Festival championship this past September.

Under the guidance of head coach Jeff Walz, the Cardinals have a stellar track record in home openers, boasting a record of 15-2. Additionally, they have been particularly successful in the month of November, with an impressive 88-17 record. This win cements their reputation as a force to be reckoned with in nonconference play, as they have a record of 176-33 against unranked opponents.

The game got off to a fast-paced start as DePaul burst out of the gate with a 24-11 lead midway through the first quarter, hitting 10 of their first 12 shots. However, Louisville fought back in the latter half of the period, finishing on an 18-5 run to tie the game at 29 heading into the second quarter.

After a dominating 77-59 victory over Cincinnati in their season opener, the No. 17/15 University of Louisville women’s basketball team is ready to take on DePaul in their home opener. The Cardinals will be playing their first home game since February 26 and it will be the KFC Yum! Center debut for several new additions to their roster.

The Cardinals had contributions from nearly the entire team, with 10 players getting on the scoresheet. Sydney Taylor led the way with 16 points, while Jayda Curry made an impressive regular season debut with 13 points. Olivia Cochran was a force on the boards, collecting a game-high 10 rebounds to go along with seven points and three assists. Elif Istanbulluoglu and Kiki Jefferson also made strong collegiate debuts, scoring seven and nine points respectively.

The Cardinals’ head coach, Jeff Walz, proved once again why his team is a force to be reckoned with, as they secured their 14th win in season openers under his leadership.

Under Coach Walz, the Cardinals have been a force to be reckoned with, making five consecutive Elite Eight appearances and maintaining a six-year Sweet Sixteen streak, both of which are unmatched by any other team in the country. Last season, the Cardinals won 26 games and extended their streak of 11-straight seasons with 25 or more wins. They also finished fourth in the ACC and advanced to the ACC Tournament Championship game for the fourth time in program history.
