The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) has announced the winners of this year’s volleyball awards. The awards were determined by a vote of the league’s 15 head coaches. Anna DeBeer of Louisville and Audrey Koenig of Florida State were named co-Players of the Year, while Louisville’s Elena Scott was named Defensive Player of the Year. DeBeer and Scott were also selected to the ACC’s First Team along with Charitie Luper.
In addition, Aiko Jones, Elle Glock, and Cara Cresse of Louisville were named to the All-ACC Second Team.
Rachel Fairbanks of Pitt was named Setter of the Year, Olivia Babcock of Pitt was named Freshman of the Year, and Florida State’s Chris Poole was named Coach of the Year.
DeBeer had an impressive season, recording 216 kills and averaging 3.32 per set in conference play. She led Louisville to a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament and became a member of Louisville’s 1,000-kill club. Scott led the ACC with 4.43 digs per set and totaled 288 digs in conference play. She also recorded her 1,000th dig this year.
Pitt had the most players named to the All-ACC teams with eight, followed by Louisville with six, and Florida State with five. Five ACC volleyball teams earned spots in the NCAA Tournament, with Pitt earning a No. 1 seed as the Co-Champion.
