The University of Louisville’s volleyball team has dominated the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) weekly awards, with three players earning recognition. Anna DeBeer was named Offensive Player of the Week, Elle Glock was named Setter of the Week, and Elena Scott shared the Defensive Player of the Week award with Pitt’s Emma Monks.
DeBeer put together an impressive performance against No. 12 Georgia Tech, recording 18 kills, 15 digs, three aces, and a block. She was also instrumental in passing 41 serves, more than any other player on both teams. The Louisville native’s contributions helped her team secure a 3-1 victory over the Yellow Jackets, avenging a previous loss earlier in the season. DeBeer’s outstanding performance throughout the awards season bookended her achievement as the first Offensive Player of the Week and the last.
Scott and Monks had previously shared the Defensive Player of the Week award on September 11. Scott contributed 15 digs, two aces, and three assists in the match against Georgia Tech. With this performance, she now has a total of 1,272 career digs, having posted double-digit digs in all but two matches. Scott has been on a roll recently, recording a total of 29 digs in the last two matches against Pitt and Georgia Tech.
Glock played a pivotal role in Louisville’s 3-1 victory over Georgia Tech, tallying 41 assists, a kill, and two aces. The Nebraska native averaged 10.25 assists per set, guiding her team’s offense to a .235 hitting percentage in the match, which included two deuce sets.
This season has seen exceptional performances from various players across the ACC, with Offensive Player of the Week awards going to the likes of Kerry Keefe (Duke), Angela Grieve (Miami), and Tamara Otene (Georgia Tech), among others. Similarly, Defensive Player of the Week honors have been shared by players such as Emma Farrell (Wake Forest), Paola Pimentel (Georgia Tech), and Kiari Robey (Florida State), highlighting the overall talent in the conference.
The University of Louisville’s dominance in the ACC volleyball awards is a testament to the team’s skill and determination. Congratulations to Anna DeBeer, Elle Glock, and Elena Scott for their well-deserved recognition.
