Louisville women’s basketball team, the Cardinals, has recently added Eseosa Imafidon to their roster. Imafidon had scholarship offers from universities such as Kentucky, Iowa, Iowa State, and DePaul, among others. She chose to join the Cardinals team led by head coach Jeff Walz. Born in Nigeria, Imafidon spent her final year in high school at Proctor Academy in New Hampshire. Her unique set of skills led her team to a 14-7 overall record in the NEPSAC Class AA league.
Eseosa Imafidon played basketball for Team Curry, based out of Charlotte. She was a dominant player in her senior year at Matthews Covenant Day School in North Carolina, averaging 14.1 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game. She also earned the second-team NCSAA Girls’ Varsity Basketball All-American honors. Her skills earned her offers from several top universities for college basketball.
Coach Jeff Walz is excited about the addition of Imafidon to their team, and he stated that her work ethic, defensive prowess, ability to block shots, and run the floor make her stand out. He also mentioned that her infectious personality and commitment to excellence are a valuable asset that will serve her well not only on the court but also in the classroom.
The Cardinals team is coming off its fifth-straight Elite Eight berth and remains the only program in the country with five-straight Elite Eight berths. Imafidon joins the team as the seventh addition since the end of last season. Her red shirt season will further her development and adaptation to the college game. Eylia Love, Jayda Curry, Hennie Van Schaik, Kiki Jefferson, Nina Rickards, and Sydney Taylor are other newcomers who will join the Cardinals team.
