We’re back with our look at football programs around Kentucky.  Lots of good football being played so check out a game in your area if you have the time.  As usual if you have any more info on how to follow these programs or any players for us to keep an eye on just reach out and let us know.

Western Kentucky Hilltoppers

WKU traveled to Troy to take on the defending Sun Belt Champs and lost a close one 27-24.  The Tops struggled on the ground rushing for only 13 yards as a team and the offense never really seemed to get going.  WKU dropped to 2-2 before entering CUSA play yesterday as they took on MTSU in what is a huge rivalry.  If you aren’t familiar with the 100 Miles of Hate rivalry, you can read up on it here. The Hilltoppers bounced back with a big win 31-10 and are now 3-2 overall and 1-0 in CUSA play.

Eastern Kentucky Colonels

EKU got their first win of the season with a 41-38 comeback win over 16th ranked SEMO (ranked at the time, they have since fallen just outside the FCS top 25).  The Colonels fell behind 17-0 and trailed 38-24 with 8 minutes to go in the 4th, but a late flurry saw kicker Patrick Nations win it as time expired with a 46-yard FG.  EKU is now 1-3 on the season and enter UAC play this week as they travel to Florence, Alabama to take on the North Alabama Lions.  The game kicks off at 7pm ET and can be streamed on ESPN+.

Murray State Racers

The Racers were on a bye this past weekend and still sit at 1-2 on the season.  This week they start MVC play as they welcome the Indiana State Sycamores to Roy Stewart Stadium in Murray, KY.  The game kicks off at 7pm ET/6pm CT and can be streamed on ESPN+.  The Missouri Valley is a brutal gauntlet and it’s important for Murray to get off to a strong start at home in a winnable game.

Morehead State Eagles

Morehead lost a heartbreaker this past weekend to St. Thomas 35-28.  The Eagles tied the game at 28 with about 1:50 on the clock with a TD run from Caleb Ramseur (his 2nd of the day) but the Tommies scored with 9 seconds to win a thriller.  The loss drops the Eagles to 1-2 and 0-1 in the conference.  Up next, they welcome the Drake Bulldogs to Jayne Stadium in Morehead, KY.  The game kicks off at 2pm ET and can be streamed on ESPN+.

Kentucky State Thorobreds

Kentucky State lost 31-9 to Fort Valley State.   QB Denim Johnson threw for 218 yards and rushed for 111 yards while also scoring the lone TD for the Thorobreds on a 52-yard run in the 3rd quarter.  KSU is now 1-3 and 0-3 in the SIAC and take on Albany State this Saturday.  The game kicks off at 1pm ET at Alumni Stadium in Frankfort, KY.

Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers

KWC won a tough game, 13-10 over Ohio Dominican.  A 7-yard pass from Christian Arrambide to former E-Town HS star Camden Williams with 35 seconds won the game for the Panthers.  KWC is now 3-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference.  This week KWC travels to Findlay, OH to take on the University of Findlay.  The game kicks off at 4pm ET and it appears there will be a livestream that can be found here.

Thomas More Saints

Thomas More traveled to Ohio to take on Walsh and came back with a 26-10 win.  The Saints fell behind 10-0 before reeling off 26 unanswered led by 4 total TD from Rae’Von Vaden and Jaden Hall.  The win pushes the Saints to 3-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference.  This week Thomas More is back at home to take on Tiffin.  The game kicks off at 7pm ET at Republic Bank Field in Crestview Hills, KY.  It appears there will be a livestream available here

Centre College Colonels

The Colonels had a tough weekend losing to a good Berry team 49-16.  Not a whole lot of highlights for Centre but former Lexington Catholic HS star Blake Busson had 6 receptions for 124 yards on the day.  Centre falls to 1-3 on the season and 1-1 in conference.  They’ll lick their wounds for a week as they are on a bye before heading to San Antonio, TX to take on a top 10 team in Trinity on October 7th.

Campbellsville Tigers

The Campbellsville Tigers defeated the Union College Bulldogs 37-27 this past weekend.  Former Boyle County star Jagger Gills threw for 340 yards and 2 TD while WR Andre Siler had 7 receptions for 117 yards.  The Tigers are 2-2 on the season and will now enter Mid-South Conference play this weekend when they travel to Lebanon, TN to take on Cumberland (TN).  The game kicks off at 7pm ET and according the website Cumberland will offer a livestream here

Georgetown Tigers

The 20th ranked Tigers traveled to Georgia and lost to 24th ranked Reinhardt 28-24.  Georgetown had a 21-7 HT lead thanks to a 96-yard kickoff return from former Mercer Co. star Dillon Warren.  A bad fumble in the 3rd quarter was returned by Reinhardt for a TD to tie the game at 21 but the Tigers responded by kicking a FG to go up 24-21 with 5 minutes to go.  A late Reinhardt TD put them up for good and the Tigers take their first lost of the season.  They are now 2-1 and will have another bye week.

Cumberlands Patriots

Cumberlands were on a bye this past weekend and sit 4-0 and ranked 19th in the latest NAIA Top 25 poll. This weekend they will welcome the 6th ranked and undefeated Bethel Wildcats to James H. Taylor II Stadium in Williamsburg, KY.  The game kicks off at 7pm ET and there will be a livestream that can be found here

Pikeville Bears

Pikeville was on a bye and remains 2-2 on the season.  They begin Appalachian Athletic Conference play this week as they welcome Union College to Hambley Athletic Complex in Pikeville, KY.  The game kicks off at 7pm ET and according to this site there will be a livestream.

Union College Bulldogs

The Bulldogs lost to Campbellsville on the road 37-27.  QB Walker Russell threw 3 TD in the losing effort as Union drops to 1-3 on the season.  They now begin conference play on the road at Pikeville.

Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders

The 10th ranked Blue Raiders ran away from Bluefield 45-28.  Former Washington Co. HS star Jbias Dawson rushed for 252 yards and 3 TD and Lindsey Wilson is now 3-1 on the season.  They open Mid-South Conference play this weekend with Faulkner coming to Blue Raider Stadium in Columbia, KY.  The game kicks at 3:30pm ET/2:30pm CT and if they game is livestreamed it will be found here

Kentucky Christian Knights

The Knights had a bad weekend as they lost to Warner 63-6.  Malious Cain and Ja’raylan Johnson connected for the lone TD in the 3rd quarter.  KCU has dropped 0-5 on the season and begins AAC play this weekend with Point coming to Grayson, KY.  The game kicks off at Noon ET and as of now there appears to be no stream.
