We’re back with a look at the good college footbal being played in the Commonwealth. We have a couple of top 10 teams fighting for conference championships and several more teams who still have a chance at post-season play. As always if you have interesting stories please share with us in the comments.

Western Kentucky Hilltoppers

The Hilltoppers lost at home to undefeated Liberty last night 42-29.  Austin Reed threw for 365 yards and 4 TD but it wasn’t enough.  The loss drops WKU to 4-4 and 2-2 in CUSA play.  They now likely need to win out to force a rematch with Liberty in the CUSA Championship Game.

Western now has a mini-bye as they don’t head to El Paso to take on UTEP until 11/4.

Eastern Kentucky Colonels

The Colonels lost a shoot-out on the road to Gardner-Webb 35-32.  The EKU offense struggled in the 3rd quarter and fell behind despite two former KY HS stars Braedon Sloan (Wayne County HS) and Jalen Burbage (Bryan Station HS) having good games.  The loss drops EKU to 3-4 on the season but they are still 2-0 in UAC play. If they have any dreams of making the FCS playoffs, they’ll likely need to win out.

This Saturday EKU is back in UAC play and will travel all the way to Saint George, UT to take on Utah Tech.  The game kicks off at 8pm ET and can be streamed on ESPN+

Murray State Racers

The Racers lost 28-24 at Missouri State.  The loss continues a tough trend for the Racers who are now 2-5 on the season and 1-3 in the MVC.  Murry had two 4th quarter drives into Missouri State territory with a chance to take the lead but one ended with an INT and the last one ended in a turnover on downs.  Former Dupont Manual HS star Jawaun Northington (also a former Kentucky commit and relative of Kentucky Legend Nate Northington) led the Racers with 83 total yards.

Murray State is back on the road this week as they head to Fargo, ND to take on FCS powerhouse North Dakota State.  The Bison haven’t been as dominant as they’ve already lost two league games but are still ranked 11th.  The game kicks off at 3:30pm ET and can be streamed on ESPN+

Morehead State Eagles

Morehead were dominated 42-0 on the road by Tarleton State.  It was an ugly afternoon for the Eagles but thankfully this wasn’t a league game so they can forget about it and move on.  Morehead is now 3-4 on the season but still alive in the Pioneer Conference at 2-2 with big games to close out the season.

Up next Morehead travels all the way to San Diego to take on the San Diego Toreros.  The game kicks off at 5pm ET and can be streamed on ESPN+

Kentucky State Thorobreds

Kentucky State lost a tough road game to 5th ranked Benedict College.  The final score was 63-14 with RB Isaiah Saleem rushing for 75 yards and a 1 TD.  The Thorobreds are now 2-6 overall and 1-5 in the SIAC.

Kentucky State will now head to Atlanta to take on Morehouse College.  The game kicks off at 2pm ET and will be streamed on ESPN+

Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers

KWC lost on the road to undefeated and 19th ranked Tiffin 37-12.  It was a competitive game well into the 4th quarter but two late Tiffin TDs ended up putting the game away.  The Panthers were led by former Daviess Co. HS star Landon Newman with 150 rushing yards.  This was the 4th straight loss for Kentucky Wesleyan who are now 3-5 on the season and 2-4 in conference.

Kentucky Wesleyan is back home against Northwood.  The game kicks off at 6pm CT/7pm ET at Steele Stadium in Owensboro, KY.  If you can’t make it out to the stadium a stream can be found here.

Thomas More Saints

Thomas More lost a 35-33 heartbreaker at home to Hillsdale.  QB Rae’Von Vaden (former Moore HS star) passed for 240 yards and 2 TD while also adding 83 rushing yards and another 2 TD on the ground.  Vaden scored on a 6-yard run with 30 seconds left to cut the Hillsdale lead to 2 point, but the 2-point conversion failed.  Thomas More is now 4-4 overall and 3-3 in conference play.

The Saints now head to Ashland, OH to take on Ashland.  The game kicks off at 1pm ET and can be streamed here.

Centre College Colonels

Centre went on the road and beat Millsaps 59-20.  The Colonels rushed for 234 yards and had three different plays throw TD passes in what was a total route.  Centre is now 3-4 overall and 3-2 in SAA play..

Center is back home at Andry Frye Stadium in Danville, KY to take on Sewanee.  The game kicks off at 1pm ET.  If you can’t make it out to the stadium you can catch a stream here

Campbellsville Tigers

Campbellsville was on a bye this past week and will now welcome the Cumberlands Patriots to Finley Stadium.  The game kicks off at 7pm ET and if you can’t make the game a stream can be found here

Georgetown Tigers

The 9th ranked Tigers went down to Alabama and beat Faulkner 27-3.  Former Frederick Douglass HS star RB Darius Neal rushed for 125 yards and 2 TD.  Georgetown had 3 turnovers which kept the score closer than it should have been for a while, but Georgetown was just too talented.  The Tigers are now 5-1 overall and 3-0 in Mid-South Conference play.

Georgetown will now welcome 7th ranked Lindsey Wilson to Toyota Stadium in Georgetown, KY.  The game kicks off at 2:30pm ET and if you can’t make it out you can get a stream here.

Cumberlands Patriots

Cumberlands lost on the road to 7th ranked Lindsey Wilson 48-14.  The Patriots were completely outclassed, falling behind 35-0 in the 3rd quarter before Jahmel Hutsell returned a kickoff 91 yards for their first TD.  The loss drops UC to 5-3 overall and a disastrous 1-3 in Mid-South Conference play.

Cumberlands will now travel to Campbellsville in what is a must-win if the Patriots want to avoid an embarrassing season.

Pikeville Bears

Pikeville picked up a road win over Bluefield 51-42.  QB Lee Kirkland threw for 306 yards and 4 TD while RB Adrian Medacco rushed for 122 yards.  While leading 44-36 late in the 4th quarter DB Obie Wilson picked off a pass and returned it 56 yards for a TD that ended the game.  The Bears are now 5-3 overall and 3-1 in AAC play.  They currently sit 2nd in the AAC and are still alive for the conference championship but will need Reinhardt to lose.

UPike now returns home for their last home game of the season to take on Point.  The game kicks off at 1:30pm ET at the Hambley Athletic Complex in Pikeville, KY.  If you can’t make it out to the stadium a stream can be found here

Union College Bulldogs

Union was on their bye this past week. They will now head to Georgia to take on 21st ranked Reinhardt.  The game kicks off at 1:30pm ET and a stream can be found here.

Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders

The 7th ranked Blue Raiders dominated the Cumberlands 48-14.  QB Ethan Cash threw for 281 yards and RB Jbias Dawson (from Washington Co HS) rushed for 101 but the Blue Raider defense dominated.  They held the Patriots to just 142 yards of offense and forced 11 punts.

Up next Lindsey Wilson will be in a top 10 matchup for control of the Mid-South Conference on the road at Georgetown.

Kentucky Christian Knights

KCU got their first win of the season winning 18-15 on the road against St. Andrews.  The Knights fell behind 15-6 at HT but a 3rd quarter TD run from QB Baden Gillispie (from Lawrence Co. HS) put KCU up for good.  Kentucky Christian is now 1-7 and 1-2 in AAC play.

The Knights now come home looking to create a winning streak with Bluefield coming to Grayson, KY.  The game kicks off at 6pm ET.
