Skyy Clark Reportedly Entering Transfer Portal

According to a report by Joe Tipton on Sunday, Skyy Clark, a freshman guard for Illinois, is planning to enter the transfer portal. Clark, a former five-star recruit in the Class of 2022, played in 13 games for the Fighting Illini and averaged 7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.1 assists before leaving the team in early January for personal reasons.

Despite starting the first 12 games of the season, Clark had a high turnover rate and some defensive issues in Illinois’ switch-everything scheme. He also had to work his way back from a torn ACL and a shoulder injury. However, Clark has multiple years of eligibility remaining and is expected to be one of the highest-rated available lead guards in the transfer portal.

Illini head coach Brad Underwood has been supportive of Clark’s decision to prioritize himself and his family, stating that he remains a valued part of the program and will receive their full support. Clark has also expressed his love for the University of Illinois and his appreciation for the support he has received during this time.

As the 60-day transfer portal window opens on Monday, Clark will have the opportunity to explore his options and find a new program that will help him grow both physically and mentally as a player. Underwood has praised Clark’s physicality and mental acuity, calling him a gifted athlete and a student of the game.
