Kamari Lands, a former high school basketball standout who was ranked as the No. 60 overall recruit, recently caught the attention of several college basketball programs. Lands, a former Louisville Cardinal, entered the transfer portal recently. During his freshman year at Louisville, Lands had limited playing time and only averaged 5.9 points per game and 1.9 rebounds per game. He struggled with his shooting, making just 32.6% of his attempts from the field and 32.1% from beyond the arc.
Despite the Cardinals’ disappointing 4-28 season, Lands showed improvement throughout the year, and in a game against Georgia Tech in February, he recorded a season-high 15 points. Now, multiple programs, including Ohio State, Penn State, Arkansas, and LSU, have expressed interest in Lands.
Alabama is also considering adding Lands to its roster, particularly with the possibility of losing guards Mark Sears and Jahvon Quinerly to the NBA Draft. The situation is still developing, and it remains to be seen how the Crimson Tide will proceed.
It is unfortunate that he is leaving. He has a tremendous upside and had shown some good spurts of good ball this year despite the Cards struggling all season.
We’ll see where he “Lands”. He seems like a good kid and deserves a fresh start if that is what he is looking for.
