The Kentucky Gymnastics program is set to make quite a splash on television this season, as they will be featured on the ESPN Family of Networks a total of six times during the 2023 regular season. This exciting news was announced jointly by ESPN and the SEC Network on Thursday afternoon.
Fans of the Wildcats will have the opportunity to watch two of the team’s home meets, which will take place inside the iconic Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center, on national TV. Additionally, four of their road appearances will be televised on the linear networks of ESPN. This kind of exposure is a testament to the talent and skills of the Kentucky Gymnastics team.
The SEC Network will be airing a total of 19 regular season meets, featuring head-to-head competitions between SEC teams. To kick off the season, eight of these meets will be televised in the month of January alone. It’s clear that gymnastics fans will have plenty of exciting matchups to look forward to.
There is plenty of anticipation surrounding one particular meet, as ESPN2 will be featuring Kentucky in a nationally-spotlighted showdown against the Florida Gators. This highly-anticipated event will take place in Rupp Arena on Sunday, March 3 at 2 p.m. Fans should mark their calendars for this must-see matchup.
Big Blue Nation will also have the chance to catch the Wildcats in action on the SEC Network on multiple occasions. The team will be facing off against Auburn on January 12, followed by a meetup with LSU on Friday, January 19. Excite Night in Rupp Arena will feature a match against the Georgia Bulldogs on January 26. And finally, the team will travel to Alabama on February 2 and Arkansas on February 23 for two more SEC Network meets.
The excitement does not end with the regular season, as the SEC Gymnastics Championship will be broadcast live on the SEC Network. The event will take place on Saturday, March 23 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. The top four teams from the regular season will compete in the evening session at 8 p.m., while the afternoon session will feature the bottom four regular season finishers at 3:30 p.m.
