Kentucky swimming and diving is gearing up for two major competitions this week as select representatives from the team participate in the USA Diving Winter National Championships and the Toyota U.S. Open.
Abby Devereaux, Kristy Pfaff, Claire McDaniels, Jodi Cobb, Sam Duncan, and Gavin Hang will be showcasing their diving skills at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tenn. The national meet, which also serves as a qualifier for the 2024 World Aquatics Championships, will take place from November 28 to December 6. Former UK diver Kyndal Knight and future Wildcat Avery Geise will also be joining the team.
The competition will kick off with qualifying rounds from November 28 to 30, followed by finals from November 29 to December 6. Tickets are available for purchase for those who want to witness the action live, while the USA Diving YouTube channel will also be live streaming the event.
In addition to the diving team, Max Berg, Carson Hick, Libby Grether, and Olivia Mendenhall will be representing Kentucky swimming at the Toyota U.S. Open in Greensboro, N.C. The championship will run from November 29 to December 2 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. The four athletes have a total of 12 entries on the pre-scratch psych sheet.
This event has also been approved by World Aquatics as a qualifying event for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Preliminary rounds will begin at 9 a.m. each day, followed by finals at 6 p.m. Tickets for individual sessions can be purchased on site, and the 2023 Toyota U.S. Open Championships will be broadcast on NBC networks.
