The Kentucky Wildcats are gearing up for the SEC Tournament in Nashville, Tennessee. As the team prepares for their first game on Friday night, they may be the healthiest they’ve been all season.
Starting point guard Cason Wallace injured his ankle during the Cats’ loss to the Vanderbilt Commodores on Senior Night, causing him to sit out the match against the Arkansas Razorbacks last Saturday. Meanwhile, backup point guard Sahvir Wheeler has been out since their first game against Arkansas in February. Shooting guard CJ Fredrick has also battled various injuries this season, including a rib injury that has caused him to miss some games.
According to Kyle Tucker of The Athletic, Wallace is likely to make his return to the court this weekend in Nashville. Additionally, there is a chance that Wheeler will also make his return. If these players can return to full strength, it would be a huge boost for the team as they head into postseason play.
The SEC Tournament could serve as an opportunity for the team to regain their momentum and prepare for a strong run in the NCAA Tournament, which starts next week. It remains to be seen if all of these players will be able to take the court together, but the prospect of a healthy team is certainly an exciting one for Wildcats fans.
The Kentucky Wildcats tip-off their first game of the SEC tournament Friday night at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
