The NFL playoffs are upon us, and there are eight alumni from the University of Kentucky football team who will be competing for a chance at the Super Bowl. This weekend, four of these “NFL Cats” are expected to be active in their teams’ games.
Mike Edwards, who was part of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Super Bowl victory last year, will be suiting up for the Kansas City Chiefs as they defend their title. Their game will be streamed exclusively on Peacock at 8:10 p.m. ET on Saturday.
Za’Darius Smith and the Cleveland Browns will kick off Super Wildcard Weekend against the Houston Texans at 4:30 p.m. ET on NBC. Smith will be a key player for the Browns as they aim for a playoff win.
Rookie Carrington Valentine will be making his playoff debut with the Green Bay Packers, who will be facing off against the Dallas Cowboys at 4:30 p.m. ET on Sunday. Valentine will be looking to make a big impact in his first taste of playoff football.
Josh Paschal and the Detroit Lions will be hosting the Los Angeles Rams at 8:15 p.m. ET on Sunday. Paschal brings his talent and tenacity to the field as the Lions aim for a postseason victory.
In addition to these active players, there are also four Wildcats on playoff-team practice squads. Darian Kinnard is with the Chiefs, Tashawn Manning is with the Baltimore Ravens, and Quandre Mosely and Logan Stenberg are with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Buccaneers, who have the two Wildcats on their practice squad, will be facing the Philadelphia Eagles at 8:15 p.m. ET on Monday on ESPN. Mosely and Stenberg will be hoping for an opportunity to contribute to their team’s playoff run.
It’s a great accomplishment for these former University of Kentucky players to be competing in the NFL playoffs. Their experiences and talent will be crucial as they aim to advance in the postseason and ultimately reach the Super Bowl.
