Chris Livingston, a freshman from Ohio, has been named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week after contributing to Kentucky’s victories against Mississippi State and No. 10 Tennessee.
Livingston’s performances included an average of 12.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and two assists per game, which was crucial in securing two critical wins for the Wildcats. This is the fifth weekly SEC honor awarded to a Wildcat this season, with Cason Wallace earning SEC Freshman of the Week honors three times, and Oscar Tshiebwe receiving SEC Player of the Week honors on January 23.
In the game against Mississippi State, Livingston scored all 13 of his points in the second half, along with three assists and two steals. He grabbed five boards and scored six out of six free throw attempts. In the 66-54 win against the Volunteers, Livingston notched his first career double-double by scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 boards.
Under the leadership of John Calipari, Kentucky Mens Basketball has won more weekly SEC honors than any other school, including 94 SEC Freshman of the Week awards and 30 SEC Player of the Week honors, making it the most dominant school in the league.
Livingston is averaging 6.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game this season and has registered five double-figure scoring games, with three in the last four games. He also ranks second in 3-point percentage on the team, shooting 38.1% from beyond the arc.
Kentucky will face off against the Gators in Gainesville, Florida on Wednesday, with the game set to be broadcast on ESPN at 7 p.m. ET.
