It seems that the Louisville football program has made some promising offseason moves, including retaining a strong recruiting class and adding several key players from the NCAA transfer portal. In particular, the addition of Jack Plummer from Purdue stands out, given his experience playing under new head coach Jeff Brohm. However, there are several other transfer players to keep an eye on during spring football.
Jamari Thrash, a wide receiver from Georgia State, could be a reliable threat for the Cardinals, especially with Tyler Hudson leaving for the NFL draft. While he’s smaller than Hudson, Thrash has demonstrated his ability to create separation from defenders and pick up extra yards.
Gilbert Frierson, a safety from Miami, brings experience and versatility to the Cardinals’ secondary. Although he didn’t play much last season, he was a full-time starter for the Hurricanes in 2020 and has the ability to play both linebacker and safety positions.
Stephen Herron Jr., a defensive lineman from Stanford, is an explosive pass rusher who could help fill the void left by U of L’s top three tackle for loss leaders from last season.
Marquis Groves-Killebrew, a cornerback from Texas A&M, brings talent and speed to Louisville’s secondary. As a four-star recruit, he has potential to contribute as the Cardinals look for depth and a new starter to replace Kei’Trel Clark.
Isaac Guerendo, a running back from Wisconsin, adds size and the ability to help on special teams. He’s already familiar to Coach Brohm, having played against Purdue last season.
Overall, the addition of these transfer players could give Louisville a boost as they prepare for the upcoming season.
The Cards kick off their season with new head coach Brohm on September 1st against Georgia Tech.
