Louisville’s men’s tennis team won against NC State with a score of 4-3 during an Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) match at JW Isenhour Tennis Center. NC State won the doubles point to start the game, leading with wins on courts one and three. However, No. 55-ranked Fabien Salle evened the score with a quick 6-3, 7-6 win over Braden Shick at the No. 3 spot.
NC State answered with a win on court five, pushing back ahead. Still, No. 31-ranked Etienne Donnet rallied to a 7-6, 5-7, 6-4 victory over No. 73 Luca Staeheli court two, tying the score at 2-2. Louisville’s 76th-ranked Natan Rodrigues put his team back on top with a 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 win against No. 52 Rafa Izquierdo Luque on court one. Once again, the Wolfpack countered, this time at the No. 5 spot.
The match came down to court six, where freshman Andre’ Steinbach won against Joseph Wayand 6-1, 7-5 to seal Louisville’s ACC road victory. The Cardinals will be hosting Boston College on Friday at 12 p.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
Louisville’s head coach Rodrigo da Silva stated that he’s proud of the team and how they played during the match. The players kept trusting the process, even though they had worked hard without receiving rewards. The game finished in four hours and 119 people attended the match.
