In a move expected to bolster their attacking capabilities, University of Louisville women’s soccer team have recruited German forward Fiona Gaißer to their incoming class of 2023. Gaißer, who has been playing with Bayern Munich II in the 2. Frauen-Bundesliga league, is set to join the Cardinals ahead of the 2023 season, kicking off in August.
Louisville head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes expressed her excitement at the signing, praising the player’s “unbelievable youth career” which includes appearances for Germany Women’s Youth National teams at various levels. Gaißer’s recent form at Bayern Munich, where she has scored seven goals in 17 matches this current season, indicates she will make a valuable asset to the Louisville squad, which is currently mid-way through their spring season.
The Cardinals are set to face off against Bowling Green next in a Spring Cup match on April 8 in Ohio, with the addition of Gaißer sure to inspire confidence in the team. Cards fans look forward to seeing how the team’s newest addition contributes to their upcoming campaigns.
