Kentucky Men’s Soccer Receives At-Large Bid for NCAA Tournament

In an exciting announcement on Monday afternoon, the NCAA revealed that the Kentucky men’s soccer team has received an at-large bid for the 2023 NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Tournament. The Wildcats, who finished as the last of the 48 teams selected, will be representing the Sun Belt Conference along with Marshall, West Virginia, UCF, and James Madison.

Kentucky, with a record of 7-7-4 and a conference record of 3-3-3, fought hard in the Sun Belt Conference tournament. Although they faced defeat against the top-ranked Marshall in the semifinals, the Wildcats demonstrated their resilience and determination.

For their first-round match, Kentucky will be traveling to nearby Cincinnati, Ohio, where they will take on Xavier. The time of the match is yet to be announced. Xavier, boasting a record of 9-3-6 and a Big East record of 4-1-3, secured their spot in the NCAA tournament by winning a decisive 0-0 shootout against Georgetown, thus capturing the program’s first-ever Big East Conference Tournament title.

The stage is set for an exciting showdown between the Wildcats and the Musketeers, as both teams vie for victory and a chance to progress further in the tournament. The full 2023 NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament bracket and additional information can be found on the NCAA website.
