by

Kentucky men’s tennis has once again secured a position in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Preseason top-25, coming in at No. 11. This marks the program’s fifth consecutive year making an appearance in the prestigious rankings. The Wildcats are joined by six other SEC schools in the top-25, making the SEC the conference with the most representation.

Last season, Kentucky ended on a high note, finishing ranked No. 5 in the country. They made an impressive run to the quarterfinals at the NCAA Tournament and reached the semifinals at ITA Indoor Nationals. The team also secured their second-ever SEC Tournament Championship and reached the No. 2 spot in the national rankings. Kentucky is eager to continue their success and build upon their achievements from last season.

The Wildcats boast an impressive roster, with key returning players including Joshua Lapadat, who was named to the All-SEC First Team, Taha Baadi, who earned a spot on the All-SEC Second Team, and Jaden Weekes, who was honored with a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team. These players will be instrumental in leading the team to victory and maintaining their strong standing in the rankings.

Kentucky’s 2024 campaign kicks off on January 15 at the Boone Tennis Center, where they will face off against Northern Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky in a doubleheader. The Wildcats will take on Northern Kentucky at 1 p.m. and then Eastern Kentucky at 6 p.m. The team is excited to start the season strong and showcase their talent on the court.
