The University of Louisville swimming and diving teams are gearing up to compete at the Ohio State Fall Invitational this week. The tournament will take place from Thursday to Saturday at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. The highly ranked men’s and women’s teams will be facing off against tough competition, including nationally ranked teams such as Indiana, Notre Dame, and Cincinnati.
The meet will span over three days, with morning prelims in meters and afternoon finals in yards. Action will kick off at 9:30am with the 200 freestyle relay. This invitational serves as a strong test for the Louisville teams, who are coming off a two-week training break.
In their last meet, the squads faced off against Notre Dame and had mixed results. The women’s team emerged victorious in a dominant fashion, defeating the Fighting Irish 218-82. On the other hand, the men’s team fell short with a score of 162-138 after a late surge in points from Notre Dame. However, there were standout performances from senior Gabi Albiero and graduate student Christiana Regenauer, who both clinched gold medals in their respective events. Albiero also impressed with a victory in the 50 freestyle at the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile at the end of October. The men’s team will be well represented by Matias Santiso, Denis Petrashov, and Gustavo Saldo, who all secured victories in their dual with Notre Dame.
