Louisville’s Liz Dixon has been a vital player for the Cardinals this season. The 6-foot-5 graduate student forward from Memphis, Tennessee, previously attended Georgia Tech before joining the Cardinals.
Dixon has shown her strength and skill on the court, racking up impressive stats. In the season opener against Cincinnati, she scored 12 points, and in the win against Kentucky, she set a season high with 16 points, shooting 5-for-6 from the field and hitting six free throws. She has scored in double figures in both games.
Dixon has also excelled in rebounding, tallying her second-straight double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds against Miami. She went on to lead the team with a season-high 12 rebounds in the road win over Boston College, where she also tied a season-high with three blocks and a steal. She has had seven career double-doubles so far.
In addition to rebounding, Dixon has also been a force on defense, tallying two or more blocks in multiple games this season, including a season-high of three blocks against Syracuse and Wake Forest. She has also contributed to the offense, with a season-high of two assists against Virginia Tech.
Dixon’s contributions have not gone unnoticed by the team, as she and fellow forward Olivia Cochran have been cited as vital players for the Cardinals this season by the Courier Journal. With Dixon’s consistent performance on both offense and defense, the Cardinals will undoubtedly continue to rely on her as they push deeper into the NCAA tournament.
