In a surprising announcement, Reagan Rutherford, a key member of the Kentucky Volleyball team, has revealed that she will be transferring as a graduate student for the 2024 season. Rutherford leaves Kentucky with an impressive resume, having secured the NCAA National Championship title in 2020 and winning the Southeastern Conference championship four times.
Throughout the season, Rutherford displayed her exceptional skills on the court, averaging 3.47 kills per set in her 78 appearances. She also contributed 1.53 digs per set and 0.90 blocks per set. Her stellar performance earned her a spot on the All-SEC team for the third time in her career. Additionally, she was recently named to the All-Region team and received the honor of being recognized as an American Volleyball Coaches’ Association All-American for the first time in her career in 2022.
Reflecting on Rutherford’s time at Kentucky, head coach Craig Skinner expressed his admiration, stating, “Coaching Reagan at Kentucky was a tremendous experience. She has embodied all that it means to be a Wildcat, both on and off the court.” Skinner emphasized the significant contributions Rutherford had made to the program, highlighting her national and conference championships. With well-wishes for her future endeavors, he added, “We wish Reagan the best moving forward as she pursues a graduate degree and thank her for her time in Lexington.”
