The University of Louisville has announced that men’s tennis assistant coach, Mario Rincon, has been selected by the USTA Collegiate Summer Team to be one of two coaches on the men’s team for the second year in a row. The program is designed to aid leading college players in adapting to professional tennis in a team-centered environment through the USTA Player and Coach Development. Rincon, in his capacity as a coach, is to provide assistance to all American colleagues competing in tournaments throughout the summer.
Rincon has completed four seasons as an assistant coach in Louisville, having steered the Cardinals to a pair of NCAA team tournament appearances. Recently, during the NCAA Columbus Regional, the Cards secured a 17-12 overall record and advanced to the finals. In singles and doubles, two-time All-ACC honoree Etienne Donnet took part, while the all-conference duo of Fabien Salle and Natan Rodrigues earned All-American honors by reaching the quarterfinals in doubles. Moreover, the Cardinals’ team, singles, and doubles all received bids to the NCAA tournament for the third time in program history, and the first since 2011.
