The University of Louisville’s talented softball player, Taylor Roby, has announced that she will be joining the USSSA Pride softball team. USSSA Pride is a professional women’s softball team that is part of the Women’s Professional Fastpitch league (WPF), which is known for showcasing some of the best athletes in softball. The WPF league was created as a collaboration between USA Softball, USSSA, and Smash It Sports. The team is based in Viera, Florida, at the USSSA Space Coast Complex, which has modern facilities to provide the best softball experience for fans.
Roby played for the Louisville Cardinals for five years, from 2019 to 2023, and was one of the program’s most highly decorated student-athletes. She was a pitcher and designated player during her time with the Cardinals, and her performances helped the team in their quest to reach the NCAA Regionals. Louisville’s overall record was phenomenal, and they finished fourth in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
During her final season, Roby set a career and league-best record of 57 RBIs. She was considered the best player for the Cardinals, leading the team in different categories such as batting average and slugging percentage. Additionally, she set the ACC record with a school-record 23 home runs, ranking second in the NCAA in that category.
Roby’s 2023 achievements led her to be selected for the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Second Team All-America. She was also an All-ACC honoree for three consecutive years and was a three-time NFCA All-Southeast Region recipient.
Throughout her five-year stint at Louisville, Roby proved to be an exceptional player, smashing records and ranking among the top 10 in pitching and offensive categories. She compiled a .312 career batting average with 63 home runs, 184 RBIs, and 102 runs scored. In addition to her offensive numbers, she led the Cards with a 2.47 ERA with ten wins in the circle. She finishes her remarkable career ranked second in career RBIs and walks, third in career total bases, and third in career pitching strikeouts.
Roby’s move to the USSSA Pride team will open up new opportunities for her to elevate her skills and continue to make a significant contribution to softball. The team will begin their 36-game regular season slate on June 15, starting with a three-game series against Texas Smoke, and the last game of the regular season on August 5-7 will see them playing against the SIS Vipers. Roby remains optimistic about her future endeavors and is ready for the new challenges that come with her move to a new team.
