Having already been a part of four (or in Tealer’s case, five) consecutive Southeastern Conference championships, as well as the 2020 national championship, won in a COVID-19 bubble in Omaha, this season presented unique challenges for the entire UK team. The Cats were displaced from their home at Memorial Coliseum due to renovations, which resulted in playing the majority of their matches on the road.

Offensively, quarterback Devin Leary showcased his skill and composure, passing for 206 yards and three touchdowns with only one interception. In the crucial moments of the second half, when the Wildcats rallied from a double-digit deficit to seize the lead, Leary demonstrated pinpoint accuracy and leadership.

To be eligible for the Academic All-District selections, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. Undergraduate student-athletes must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50, while graduate student-athletes must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA as both an undergraduate and graduate student. Transfer student-athletes in their first semester at a new institution must have maintained a 3.50 GPA at their former school. Additionally, student-athletes must have competed in 90% of their institution’s games or started in at least 66% of games played. Each institution is limited to six award recipients.

In their last appearance in 2018, Kentucky came out victorious by defeating South Florida, UCLA, and North Carolina. They went undefeated and were crowned champions. Former players Rhyne Howard and Taylor Murray were recognized for their outstanding performances and were named to the All-Tournament Team, with Howard also receiving the Most Valuable Player award.

Known by his teammates as “The Hammer,” Damge has been an exceptional student-athlete throughout his four years at Kentucky. Hailing from Mason, Ohio, he boasts an impressive 3.93 grade-point average as a Finance and Accounting major.

He hopes to see his players fired up and excited for the game, while maintaining composure on the field. Givens didn’t hold back when discussing the current Kentucky team’s struggles. He highlighted the team’s need to improve their outside shooting and perimeter defense, areas where they have struggled in recent games. Givens stated, “The perimeter defense has been lacking. Guys are getting beat off the dribble too easy, and it’s causing all kinds of problems.” His observation offers an explanation for the Wildcats’ defensive woes.

The group is scheduled to visit the headquarters of several corporations and organizations in the Atlanta area, including Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Jackson Spalding, Microsoft, Learfield, and Trilith Studios. They will also have the opportunity to meet with SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey and learn insights into building effective business relationships and best practices for job seekers.
