In addition to her Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor, DeBeer also received numerous accolades this season. She was named the East Region Player of the Year and first team All-East Region, as well as earning a spot on the NCAA All-Regional team. Her impressive performances included a double-double with 19 kills and 13 digs in the Sweet 16 match against Creighton. She also had a career-high 29 kills and 30 points in a match against No. 7 Pittsburgh, along with five aces in a match against Wake Forest. DeBeer also joined the 1,000 Career Kill Club this year.

DeBeer, who was already named a Second Team All-American, had an outstanding season on the court as well. She was named the East Region Player of the Year, and was honored with a spot on the first team All-East Region and the NCAA All-Regional team. DeBeer was an instrumental part of the Louisville team, leading in various statistical categories including kills (392), points (438.5), and double doubles (12). Her performances did not go unnoticed, as she was twice named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week.

This marks Scott’s second appearance on the second team, as she made the list last season during Louisville’s run to the National Finals. DeBeer, on the other hand, missed the majority of last season due to injury and was therefore not eligible. However, she more than made up for it this year, earning several accolades including being named East Region Player of the Year and first team All-East Region, as well as NCAA All-Regional.

In their previous match against Western Michigan, the No. 7-ranked and No. 2-seeded Cardinals swept their opponent to secure their spot in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. With this win, Louisville improved to 26-4 for the season. The Cardinals dominated on the offensive end, hitting above .300 in every set, with a total hitting percentage of .342 throughout the match. Cara Cresse continued to impress with nine kills and three blocks, hitting an impressive .538. Anna DeBeer delivered an all-around performance with nine kills, nine digs, and two blocks, while Phekran Kong contributed seven kills and five blocks. Middle blocker Reese Robbins, who provided a much-needed spark off the bench, hit .462 with a career-high eight kills and a block. Libero Elena Scott shined again with 22 digs, seven assists, and two aces, while setter Elle Glock recorded 26 assists, 11 digs, and an ace.

The University of Louisville dominated the All-East Region team, with six players earning spots on the First Team. The six Cardinals recognized were Cara Cresse, Anna DeBeer, Elle Glock, Aiko Jones, Charitie Luper, and Elena Scott. Additionally, Phekran Kong received an Honorable Mention All-East Region selection, solidifying the Cardinals’ dominance in the region.

DeBeer put together an impressive performance against No. 12 Georgia Tech, recording 18 kills, 15 digs, three aces, and a block. She was also instrumental in passing 41 serves, more than any other player on both teams. The Louisville native’s contributions helped her team secure a 3-1 victory over the Yellow Jackets, avenging a previous loss earlier in the season. DeBeer’s outstanding performance throughout the awards season bookended her achievement as the first Offensive Player of the Week and the last.

The Louisville Cardinals have had a successful season, finishing second in the ACC race with a 24-4 overall record. They will be led on offense by senior Anna DeBeer, graduate Aiko Jones, and transfer Charitie Luper. DeBeer and Jones recently joined the 1,000+ career kill club, while Luper is coming off a career-high 24 kills against Pitt. The Cardinals will also have strong defensive presence with middle blockers Cara Cresse and Phekran Kong. Setter Elle Glock and libero Elena Scott complete the Cardinal starting lineup.

Despite the loss, the Cardinals showcased their offensive firepower, hitting .315 with 77 kills. Alongside DeBeer, Charitie Luper had 24 kills and 13 digs, while Cara Cresse and Aiko Jones combined for eight kills. Elena Scott contributed 24 digs, and Elle Glock tallied an impressive 60 assists.
