Their hard work was rewarded once again when they were selected to host an NCAA Volleyball Tournament regional at Rupp Arena this week, something that seemed unlikely just two months ago.

The Louisville Cardinals have had a successful season, finishing second in the ACC race with a 24-4 overall record. They will be led on offense by senior Anna DeBeer, graduate Aiko Jones, and transfer Charitie Luper. DeBeer and Jones recently joined the 1,000+ career kill club, while Luper is coming off a career-high 24 kills against Pitt. The Cardinals will also have strong defensive presence with middle blockers Cara Cresse and Phekran Kong. Setter Elle Glock and libero Elena Scott complete the Cardinal starting lineup.

In an exciting announcement on Monday afternoon, the NCAA revealed that the Kentucky men’s soccer team has received an at-large bid for the 2023 NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Tournament. The Wildcats, who finished as the last of the 48 teams selected, will be representing the Sun Belt Conference along with Marshall, West Virginia, UCF, and James Madison.

Louisville is coming off an impressive comeback win in the previous round against No. 8 Iowa. Despite trailing 1-0 at halftime, the Cardinals rallied back with a goal from Niamh Gowing in the third quarter to level the score. The game was eventually decided in double overtime when Minna Tremonti converted a penalty corner shot by Aimee Plumb. This victory has earned Louisville a spot in the quarterfinals, where they will face Northwestern.
