In the sprints and hurdles events, junior Victoria Perrow impressed by qualifying for the 60M final and finishing second with a time of 7.37 seconds. Freshman Troy Lane also showed promise, qualifying for the 60M final alongside junior Clinton Muunga, and ultimately placing second with a time of 6.78 seconds.

Graduate Kennedy Lightner set a new school record in the men’s 300 meters, finishing with a time of 32.45 seconds, surpassing Dwight St. Hilliaire’s 2021 record of 32.70 seconds. Lightner’s impressive performance took place in the same city where Hilliaire had set the previous record.

The competition kicks off on Friday, January 12 at noon with the Men’s and Women’s High Jump, followed by running events starting at 3 p.m. with the Women’s 60-meter dash first round. On Saturday, events will begin at 11 a.m. with the Men’s Pole Vault and Men’s and Women’s Shot Put. Running events for the day will commence at 12 p.m. with the Women’s 60-meter dash semifinals.

Among the teams joining Kentucky are Alabama State, Butler, Central Florida, Cincinnati, Howard, Louisville, Miami (Fla.), Miami (Ohio), Ohio State, Texas, and Tulane. It promises to be a fierce and exciting competition with top talent from each participating school.
