At the Corky Classic, the Wildcats will be facing tough competition from teams such as Baylor, Georgia Tech, and TCU. The events will kick off on Friday at 7 p.m. ET with the Men’s Pole Vault, and continue on Saturday with the Women’s 200m “B” sections.

Chiefly responsible for their climb in the standings was a stellar performance delivered by the UK cheerleaders on Sunday evening. While Central Florida emerged as the winners of the Division 1A Coed competition, Kentucky managed to secure the title of runners-up, beating out other formidable opponents.

The Kentucky dance team has been making waves in the dance world, with their best-ever finish in both the Game Day and Hip Hop competitions occurring just last year in 2021. In a remarkable display of skill and talent, the team claimed the second-place spot in both events. This achievement further establishes Kentucky’s reputation as a powerhouse in the dance community.

In the sprints and hurdles events, junior Victoria Perrow impressed by qualifying for the 60M final and finishing second with a time of 7.37 seconds. Freshman Troy Lane also showed promise, qualifying for the 60M final alongside junior Clinton Muunga, and ultimately placing second with a time of 6.78 seconds.

The competition kicks off on Friday, January 12 at noon with the Men’s and Women’s High Jump, followed by running events starting at 3 p.m. with the Women’s 60-meter dash first round. On Saturday, events will begin at 11 a.m. with the Men’s Pole Vault and Men’s and Women’s Shot Put. Running events for the day will commence at 12 p.m. with the Women’s 60-meter dash semifinals.

The action kicks off on Friday afternoon with the men’s and women’s high jump at 12:00 p.m. Track events will begin with the first round of the women’s 60m at 3:00 p.m. Saturday morning will see the women’s triple jump, men’s pole vault, and women’s shot put starting at 11:00 a.m., followed by events on the track at 12:00 p.m. Live results for the meet can be found here, and a schedule of events can be found here.

Among the teams joining Kentucky are Alabama State, Butler, Central Florida, Cincinnati, Howard, Louisville, Miami (Fla.), Miami (Ohio), Ohio State, Texas, and Tulane. It promises to be a fierce and exciting competition with top talent from each participating school.

Kentucky, currently 7-7 on the season, has won five of its last seven games and enters conference play on a three-game winning streak. The Wildcats are coming off a 72-59 victory over Samford, with senior forward Ajae Petty leading the way with 22 points and 13 rebounds.

Couch, who played for the University of Kentucky from 1996 to 1998, had an illustrious career that left a lasting impact on the college football scene. From leading the Wildcats to two bowl appearances to earning numerous individual accolades, Couch’s contributions to the sport are undeniable.

Upon receiving the news of his induction, Couch expressed his gratitude and excitement saying, “I’m honored and humbled. This is an unbelievable honor, I’m blown away by it. I’m really excited for the celebration this year, representing Kentucky and doing my best to do that.”
