The Cardinals are currently in the midst of their preseason training and will soon embark on a trip to Cocoa Beach, Florida. During their time there, the team will participate in a scrimmage against Tennessee. This will serve as an important opportunity for the team to evaluate their progress and gauge their competitiveness against another strong program.

Looking to build on this success, Franklin and his coaching staff have also brought in five additional athletes through the transfer portal during the offseason. Making her Louisville debut after transferring from Indiana, Ulrich secured fifth place in the women’s shot put event with a mark of 15.97m (52-4.75). This outstanding throw currently stands as the best in the ACC this season, highlighting Ulrich’s talent and potential.

All eight members of the Cardinals’ team took to the course for the first time since The Ally tournament in October. Carmen Griffiths led the way with a dominant performance, winning her match 3 & 1. Rylee Suttor also played impressively, coming out on top with a score of 4 & 3. Beatriz Barrios secured a victory with a score of 3 & 2, while Gabbi Bentancourt prevailed 2 & 1. Hana Ryskova sealed the win for the Cardinals with a score of 2 up. On the flip side, Millie Cottrell suffered a narrow defeat of 1 down, Carly Haines lost 5 & 3, and Molly Lyne fell 2 & 1 in their matches.

The Cardinals will kick off their season with a doubleheader at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center on Wednesday. They will face Xavier at noon and Bellarmine at 5 p.m. ET. Louisville has a perfect record against both teams, with historic success against them dating back to the early days of the program.

This season, the Cardinals will play a total of 16 matches at home. The team’s roster is a mix of both experienced players and newcomers. Returning doubles All-American Natan Rodrigues and ranked singles player Etienne Donnet will provide a strong foundation for the team. Will Mayew and Matthew Fung, both ranked in the ITA Singles Top 60, along with Andre’ Steinbach, will also be returning for the Cardinals.

Louisville will be sending a group of athletes to the 96th annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas from March 27-30. At the same time, the squad will also be represented at Texas State’s Bobcat Invite in San Marcos, Texas. The Cardinals will then split their team between the Stanford Invitational and San Francisco State’s Mike Fanelli Track Classic, both taking place from March 29-30, to round out the first weekend of the outdoor season.

In a groundbreaking achievement, she became the first player from Louisville to secure a place on an Olympic field hockey roster when she helped Ireland qualify for the Tokyo Olympics. Now, she aims to continue her Olympic journey as she competes with Ireland in the upcoming qualifier in Valencia, Spain.

Willis took home the gold with a personal-best leap of 7.82m (25-8), currently the fourth-best jump in the NCAA. Burkey finished in third place with a mark of 7.69m (25-2.75), ranking sixth in the nation.
