The Cardinals got off to a strong start, scoring a touchdown in the first quarter. Quarterback, John Thompson, found wide receiver, Mark Johnson, for a 20-yard touchdown pass, giving Louisville an early 7-0 lead. The Cavaliers, however, quickly responded with a touchdown of their own, tying the game at 7-7.
