The University of Louisville women’s tennis team is gearing up for an exciting 2024 spring season, as head coach Mark Beckham has just released the team’s schedule. The Cardinals will be facing off against some tough opponents, including 10 teams that made appearances in the NCAA Tournament last year. Among these opponents are defending national champion North Carolina and Final Four team NC State.
The season kicks off with two consecutive doubleheaders at home. The first doubleheader will be against EKU and Lipscomb on January 20, followed by another doubleheader against MTSU and Kennesaw State on January 28. The team will then close out their homestand with a match against Austin Peay on February 1.
The Cardinals will play their first road match on February 9, facing off against Marshall. They will then return home for four consecutive matches, including a match against local rival Bellarmine on February 16. They will also begin ACC play during this homestand, taking on Virginia Tech on February 23 and facing off against Virginia, an Elite Eight team from last year, on February 25.
After their homestand, Louisville will hit the road again for matches against Wake Forest on March 1 and NC State on March 3. Following these road trips, the team will return home for five matches, running from March 8 to March 23. Four of these matches will be against teams that made it to the tournament last year, including Notre Dame, Miami, Florida State, and Xavier.
The final road trip of the regular season will include matches against Clemson and Georgia Tech on March 29 and 31 respectively, and will conclude with matches against Boston College and Syracuse the following weekend. Louisville will then close out their regular season with a home showdown against North Carolina on April 12, followed by Senior Day against Duke on April 14.
The ACC Championships will take place in Cary, N.C. from April 17-21, and the NCAA Selection Show will announce the tournament field on April 29. It promises to be an action-packed season for the Cardinals, as they face off against some of the best teams in the country.
