Women’s Tennis to Host Kennesaw State and Middle Tennessee

The University of Louisville women’s tennis team is gearing up for an exciting doubleheader on Sunday, January 28. The Cardinals will host Kennesaw State and Middle Tennessee at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

First up for Louisville will be Kennesaw State at 11 a.m. This will be the first time these two teams face off in program history. The Cardinals are coming off a strong start to their season with a 6-1 win over in-state rival Eastern Kentucky. Louisville dominated the match, winning all three doubles courts to secure the doubles point. Elena Noguero, Lika Peresypkina, Germany Davis, Allie Gretkowski, and Lillian Mould all came out victorious on their respective singles courts, with Davis’s win clinching the match for the Cardinals.

Next, the Cardinals will take on Middle Tennessee at 4 p.m. Louisville currently holds a 6-5 series lead over Middle Tennessee. In their last meeting, the Cardinals emerged victorious with a 4-3 win at Adams Tennis Complex on February 2, 2018. Middle Tennessee has started the season 2-1, most recently defeating Chattanooga 6-1. They also secured the doubles point, highlighted by a 6-3 win on court two. Sana Garakani, Cassidy Mataia, Ilaria Sposetti, and Lena Peyer all secured wins on their singles courts, with Sposetti clinching the match in a thrilling three-set victory on court three.

Both doubleheader matches promise to be high-stakes affairs, as the Cardinals and their opponents aim to secure important wins early in the season. The University of Louisville women’s tennis team is ready to give it their all on their home turf as they face off against Kennesaw State and Middle Tennessee.
