ACC Announces 2024 Football Schedule

by

The University of Louisville football team has unveiled its challenging 2024 schedule, which includes eight bowl teams from the previous year and involves three squads ranked in ESPN’s “Way-Too-Early” Top 25. ACC Network has released the complete regular-season slate for the Cardinals, consisting of 12 games. The team will play eight ACC contests without divisions as the format continues from 2023. Additionally, the Cardinals will take on two Power 5/Major Independent opponents, Notre Dame and Kentucky, on the road.

The second year under coach Jeff Brohm will kick off on August 31 when the Cardinals host Austin Peay, marking the first home opener in August for the school since 2008. They will remain at home the following week against Jacksonville State, a team that secured a bowl berth in their first season as FBS and Conference USA members.

After an open week, Louisville will host Georgia Tech on September 21, as they begin their 10th season in the Atlantic Coast Conference. This will be the first time since 2012 that the Cardinals start the season with three consecutive home games. On September 28, they will face Notre Dame on the road, a team ranked number 10 in the Way Too Early Top 25 and a trip that marks their third visit to South Bend in school history.

The Cardinals will welcome SMU to the ACC and L&N Stadium for the first time on October 5, as the Mustangs make their ACC debut in the upcoming season. Louisville will then hit the road for four out of five games, starting with a matchup against Virginia on October 12. After hosting Miami on October 19, the Cardinals will play their only Friday night game on October 25 at Boston College. Following that, they will return to Clemson on November 2, who is also ranked in the Way Too Early Top 25, and play at Stanford for the first time on November 16. Stanford makes its ACC debut this season after over 100 years as a member of the Pac-12.

The 2024 home slate will conclude with a visit from Pitt on November 23, and then the Cardinals will travel to face in-state rival Kentucky in the Governor’s Cup rivalry game on November 30.
