Gillotte and Jordan named Honorable Mention All-Americans

by

In a recent announcement by Phil Steele, defensive lineman Ashton Gillotte and running back Jawhar Jordan from the University of Louisville have been named All-American honorable mention. Gillotte, a first team All-Atlantic Coast Conference honoree, has made quite an impact on the field this season. Ranking eighth nationally in sacks with 11.0, Gillotte’s performance has earned him a spot on the school’s single-season list for sacks. With 45 tackles and 14.5 tackles for loss, Gillotte has been an integral part of the defense, which ranked 16th nationally.

Gillotte’s standout game came against Boston College, where he recorded a career best 3.0 sacks. He also managed to get a pair of sacks against Duke in a shutout victory over the Blue Devils. With a total of 22.0 career sacks and 30.5 tackles for loss, Gillotte has proven to be a force to be reckoned with in his 37 career games for the Cardinals.

On the offensive side, Jordan has also had an exceptional season. The running back, who was named a first team All-ACC performer, rushed for 1,128 yards and 14 touchdowns this year. Jordan showcased his skill in five 100-yard rushing games, including a career best 163 yards against Duke. In a victory over No. 10 Notre Dame, he totaled 143 yards and scored twice.

Despite Jordan’s impressive performances, he has chosen not to play in the upcoming bowl game. This decision, no doubt, comes as a disappointment to fans who have watched him excel on the field throughout the season.

The Louisville Cardinals will continue their season on December 27th when they face off against USC in the 2023 Holiday Bowl in San Diego, California. It will be interesting to see how Gillotte and the rest of the team perform in this highly anticipated matchup.
