Quarterback Jack Plummer had a solid performance, completing 24 of his 33 passing attempts for 242 yards and two touchdowns. Plummer spread the ball around, connecting with ten different receivers throughout the game. Running back Jawhar Jordan led the Cardinals’ ground game with 67 rushing yards and two touchdowns, contributing to Louisville’s total of 161 yards rushing.

Freshman standout Brooklyn DeLeye led the charge for Kentucky, recording an impressive 16 kills with only two errors, hitting for .350. She also contributed six digs to the team’s effort. This win marked the Wildcats’ third top-10 victory of the season and their second over the Razorbacks. Erin Lamb added 12 kills to the scoreboard, and Reagan Rutherford had a strong performance with 10 kills in her first match back from an ankle injury.

The previous sellout game was the Louisville-Notre Dame contest on Oct. 7, which drew the largest crowd in school history with a whopping 59,081 attendees. Now, the Cards will have the opportunity to once again fill the stadium to capacity with the highly anticipated matchup against Kentucky.

To kick things off, the Cats will engage in a Blue-White scrimmage on January 13 at Frederick Douglass High School in Lexington. This will provide an excellent opportunity for the team to warm up and showcase their skills.

The Wildcats have made an impressive start to the season with a perfect 2-0 record. They defeated East Tennessee State with a score of 74-66 and followed up with a dominant 82-54 victory over USC Upstate. Kentucky has displayed remarkable offensive prowess, with five players scoring in double digits in each of their games so far. This balanced attack has been key to their success in the early stages of the 2023-24 season.

However, Kentucky head coach John Calipari understands that this game is not about the storied past of these programs, but rather about the players on the current roster. With a relatively young team, Calipari is unsure of how they will respond to this high-pressure matchup.

In an exciting Friday night game, the No. 16 Kentucky Wildcats faced a tough challenge from Texas A&M-Commerce. Unlike their dominant win over New Mexico State earlier in the week, the Cats had to overcome a slow start and rally back for a hard-fought victory.
