Leading the way for the Cardinals are Trey Allen, Synclair Savage, and Brion Stephens, all of whom qualified for the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships. Allen and Stephens will be competing in the men’s high jump. Allen had an impressive 2022-23 indoor season, finishing as the indoor ACC champion in the high jump, while Stephens was the runner-up. Allen also set a new indoor school record in the men’s high jump with a clearance of 2.27m (7-5.25), and Stephens recorded a new freshman record of 2.21m (7-3).
Savage, on the other hand, will be participating in both the women’s 60m and the women’s long jump. She set a school record last season in the long jump with a leap of 6.52m (21-4.75) and finished as the ACC runner-up in the event.
The Louisville men’s team is coming off their best finish at the ACC Indoor Championships in school history, placing fourth as a team. The women’s team finished eighth. The Cardinals also have eight indoor All-ACC honorees returning from last year’s team, including Allen, Jorge Contreras Nazario, Soledad Jean, Paul Kallenberg, Ian Kibiwot, Savage, Stephens, and Kiyah Yeast.
